FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Shocking Beyond Belief Films, the Sword of Truth behind the Shield of Entertainment, announces the Houston premiere of its latest film, Here Come the Brides!, Saturday, January 21, 2006, at the Aurora Theater, 800 Aurora Street in Houston (parking at 6608 N. Main Street). Two screenings are scheduled, 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets will be available for $7 at the theater’s box office on the evening of the premiere. Here Come the Brides! is a jaw-dropping exposé of a ripped-from-the-headlines subject - gay marriage! The 50-minute movie tells the story of a young couple who enter the forbidden netherworld of homosexual unions, a journey that leads to sin, madness, and eventually death! “It’s gay marriage meets Reefer Madness,” explains director John Aden. “We’ve taken the format of the scare films of the ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s into this new millennium and inserted today’s hot-button issue of same-sex unions.” The January 21 screenings will also feature some of the attributes of small-town Main Street exploitation film exhibitions. “Dr. Franklin Grimes, an expert, will speak to the moviegoers about this vital issue,” says Aden. “We will also have a registered nurse on hand in the event that someone finds this explosive portrayal of gay marriage too disturbing.” Gay marriage has been a particularly contentious issue in Texas with the recent passing of Proposition 2, an amendment to the state’s constitution banning gay marriage and same-sex civil unions. “We are looking forward to bringing this film to the battlefield’s frontline,” reveals writer Ellen K. Graham. The Aurora Theater, a converted church, remains Houston’s premiere microcinema. “We cannot think of a more appropriate venue to show this soul-shattering story,” says Houston promoter Jarrod Aden, the director’s brother. |
