FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Running the gauntlet of protesters, paparazzi, and press, moviegoers bravely crammed into Denver’s Bug Theatre to watch the world premiere of Here Come the Brides!, Shocking Beyond Belief’s jaw-dropping expose on gay marriage. The protesters, identifying themselves as members of the group Citizens Against Exploitation, heckled the filmmakers, cast, and attendees, but audience numbers apparently were not affected. “Good art is educational and grounded in scientific fact. [The protesters] just don’t know good art when they see it,” explains Ellen K. Graham, the film’s screenwriter. “Despite the mayhem that erupted on the red carpet, the premiere was an unparalleled success,” says director John Aden. The audience for the 7 p.m. show overflowed the theatre, and the 9 p.m. show was a near sell-out. The program kicked off with an enlightening talk by Dr. Franklin Grimes, expert. “I was honored to present this important and informative film on gay marriage to so many people,” Grimes says. “And they seemed to enjoy it, too!” The 50-minute film’s musical numbers, lacerating dialogue, devastating performances and shock ending were crowd favorites. The film was followed by a question-and-answer session wherein director John Aden explained the ambitious future plans for Brides! “In the spirit of old-time exploitation films, we want to take Here Come the Brides! on the road. We already have plans for a premiere in my hometown of Houston, Texas, and then we want to bring the film back here to Colorado – Boulder and, of course, Colorado Springs. We also want to go to L.A., San Francisco, Seattle, and New York City, and we really want to take it to the Fringe Festival of Edinburgh, Scotland.” Further details on these plans will be release in coming days, promises Aden. The audience devoured the Bug’s popcorn and beverages, as well as the merchandise. “We almost sold out of DVDs,” explains concessionaire Jarrod Aden, the director’s brother. “It’s a good thing that you can also buy this merchandise online at www.shockingbeyondbelief.com!” |
